
The Town of Tofield is located in the Battle River Alliance for Economic Development (BRAED) region. Tofield is in Beaver County, approximately 60 km east of Edmonton at the junction of Highway 14, Highway 834, and Highway 626, along the High Load Corridor. Beaverhill Lake is located immediately northeast of the community, and continues to be a gathering centre for bird watchers. The Tofield Economy
The economic base of the Tofield area includes agriculture, oil and gas, commercial services and tourism. Historically, Tofield’s commercial services were for the agricultural sector – the rolling farmlands supported a vibrant livestock and grain industry. Today the oil and gas industry is also an integral part of our economy.

Oil and Gas
Tofield is strategically located in proximity to Edmonton and near the South Athabasca Oil Sands area, which has a projected production of over 3.4M barrels of oil per day. Highways 14 and 834 are main corridors to the oil and gas fields in northeastern Alberta and run through Tofield. Direct access to markets in the oil and gas industry makes Tofield a wise choice for investment and opportunity.
Agriculture
Tofield’s commercial services are geared largely towards the agricultural sector. Mixed crops in the region include coarse grains such as wheat, oats, barley, canola and other oil seeds. The region is home to several greenhouse operations and is home to a large number of cattle, dairy, hog and poultry farms. As such, the Town also has a variety of local businesses geared to the needs of local farmers.
Tourism
The Tofield area is full of history, scenery, fishing holes and campgrounds. We are also less than an hour away from the large Edmonton market and the demand for nearby vacation and recreation opportunities continues to grow. With nearby features such as Beaverhill Lake, Miquelon Lake Provincial Park, Elk Island Provincial Park and numerous outdoor recreation opportunities, the area has excellent venues for tourism.
Transportation
The Town of Tofield is located in the heart of East Central Alberta and is situated at the junction of Highways 14 and 834. The Town is located on the High Load Corridor (Highway 14). The Tofield Municipal Airport has an all-weather, 900 metre runway. The nearest commercial and air freight services are available at Edmonton International Airport.

Summer is for golf and baseball, slo-pitch, fastball, horseback riding, fun at the spray park or countless other activities. The 9-hole golf course with grass greens is in excellent condition. The Lions Playground is popular with children, and there is an inter-connecting trail system in Town for jogging, walking, etc. Winter is for hockey, figure skating, curling, the community hill, gymnasium sports, darts and other activities.
